Dr. Seol-A Cho's Story

A Conservative Dentistry Specialist Grounded in the Fundamentals

What Led Me to Dentistry

The reason I chose to become a dentist was simple. That it is a discipline that delves deeply and expertly into a specific part of the human bodywas what appealed to me.

Rather than covering the entire body broadly like medical school, the chance to focus deeply on a single field—the oral and maxillofacial area—from my undergraduate years really spoke to me. Because I’m someone who enjoys digging into one field properly, dentistry felt like a natural fit.

Clinical Expertise

As a specialist in Conservative Dentistry, the treatment I’m most confident in is Root Canal Retreatment. Since my residency, I have handled countless cases, building experience through both failures and successes.

Root Canal Retreatment is often complex and hard to predict, but it can be the last chance to save a tooth.

Therefore, I always approach treatment with focus and a strong sense of responsibility. I know all too well that a single small decision can change the fate of a tooth.

Treatment Style

If I had to sum up my treatment style in one sentence,

"Care that explains as much as possible so patients don’t feel afraid"

Dental treatment can feel unfamiliar and scary. Before we begin, I make sure to explain what will happen, what you might feel, and why the treatment is needed. I often see the tension slowly leave patients’ faces after they hear the explanation—that moment is very meaningful to me.

Care Philosophy

The most important principle in care is simple.

"Treat every patient like family, and stay true to the fundamentals."

Following the basics isn’t glamorous, but it’s essential—adhering to established principles and carrying out each step faithfully. I believe that’s how we ultimately protect our patients’ outcomes.

Advice for Patients

I always emphasize three must-dos after Root Canal Treatment.

1. Do not chew with the treated tooth.
2. Avoid water and food for 2 hours after treatment.
3. If pain occurs, you may take a pain reliever.

These three points are simple, but they have a big impact on success. I see it as my role to provide clear instructions so you won’t feel anxious after treatment.

A Case I Remember

The most memorable patient I’ve treated was someone I met during my residency— a female patient in her 20s. She came in with dental injuries from an assault by her boyfriend, and over more than 6 months of treatment, it became a process of caring not only for her teeth but also for her heart.

Near the end of treatment, the patient said, "thank you", and that single word made me reflect again on the meaning of the profession I chose.

Area of Recent Interest

Lately, I’ve been studying regenerative endodontic procedures for immature teeth. These are applied when conventional Root Canal Treatment is not possible and represent a new approach that promotes regeneration of apical tissues. I’m continuing to learn so I can help more patients in the future.

A Bit About Me

Colleagues describe me as "someone who seems outgoing but is actually introverted—yet highly action-oriented". I may not talk a lot, but I tend to act quickly on what needs to be done, and that shows naturally in my clinical care.

Outside the clinic, yoga and runninghelp me stay balanced. Moving my body helps me gather my thoughts and settle my mind. Those moments add up and let me meet patients calmly again in the treatment room.

I hope every patient who visits Seoul BD Dental

"This clinic truly does its best for me."

will feel that way.
Best Dedication, I promise my utmost dedication.

Clinic Director Interview Q&A

Answers to frequently asked questions from Dr. Seol-A Cho, Clinic Director

When is Root Canal Retreatment needed?

It is needed when you previously had Root Canal Treatment but the infection has returned, or the initial treatment was incomplete. Because Root Canal Retreatment is often the last chance to save a tooth, a precise diagnosis and meticulous care are essential.

What if I have significant pain during Root Canal Treatment?

We provide thorough anesthesia before starting, and we closely monitor your responses during treatment. If you feel any discomfort, please let us know right away. With additional anesthesia or adjustments to the procedure, we will keep you as comfortable as possible.

Do I need a Crown after Root Canal Treatment?

In most cases, yes. Teeth that have had Root Canal Treatment can weaken over time, so protecting them with a Crown is important to extend their lifespan. We will advise you individually based on your tooth’s condition.

Any message for our patients?

Many people find dental treatment unfamiliar or frightening. But with clear explanations and good communication, that fear eases greatly. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask anytime. I will treat you as I would my own family and do my very best.
