Composite Resin is Direct filling(same-day treatment), whereas an inlay is a precisely fabricated restoration (2 visits). For larger cavities, an inlay is more suitable and offers greater durability.
Ceramic: 10-15 years; gold inlay: 15-20 years or longer.
With adequate anesthesia, there is no pain during treatment. You may experience slight sensitivity while the temporary filling is in place.
An inlay restores only the decayed portion (partial restoration), while a Crown covers the entire tooth (full coverage). If there is enough healthy tooth remaining, an inlay Tooth reductionrequires less and is therefore more conservative.
