What is Osstem CA?

Osstem CA (Calcium-coated Acid-etched) is an implant fixture in which the existing SA (Sandblasted & Acid-etched) surface is additionally coated with a calcium (Ca) ion solution to create an additional coating. Calcium ions bone-forming cells (osteoblasts)promote their activity, leading to faster and more stable early osseointegration than SA.

CA surface treatment Key technology

SA’s physical roughness + calcium’s chemical bonding strength

Calcium ion coating

A calcium (Ca) ion solution is additionally applied to the SA surface. Calcium is a key component of hydroxyapatite (HA), the main constituent of bone, and is highly biocompatible.

Osteoblast activation

Calcium ions promote osteoblast attachment and proliferation on the implant surface. This accelerates new bone formation and improves early stability.

SLA-based rough surface

A micro-rough surface created by dual sandblasting and acid-etching provides an environment where bone cells adhere well.

Proven safety

Osstem, Korea’s first implant developer, has 30+ years of clinical data and exports to 70+ countries worldwide.

Faster osseointegration

Compared with the 6~8 weeks typical for SA, the osseointegration period is shortened to 4~6 weeks. Earlier prosthesis placement becomes possible, reducing overall treatment time.

Affordable pricing

Delivers premium-level performance at a reasonable price. A high-value choice with excellent results for the cost.

For these patients, we recommendthis

Cases where Osstem CA is particularly suitable

Those with good bone quality

Those who have sufficient jawbone but want faster osseointegration than the basic type

Smokers

Those whose osseointegration may be delayed due to smoking. The calcium coating helps enhance initial stability.

Patients with diabetes

Those concerned about delayed healing due to diabetes. Faster osseointegration may reduce the risk of infection.

Prioritize performance for the cost

Provides top value for those who want premium-level performance at a reasonable price.

Want to finish treatment quickly

Osseointegration 2~4 weeks faster than SA may shorten the time to place the final restoration.

Single or few implants

Ideal for patients who want to place about 1~3 routine implants reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Osstem CA

CA is a product with calcium ions coated onto the SA surface, while BA is a premium option that combines the benefits of SA and HA (hydroxyapatite) coatings. BA is a step above CA and can be applied more broadly across various bone qualities.

With proper oral care and regular checkups, it can last more than 20 years. Osstem provides a 10-year warranty, and in real-world clinical use, lifespans often far exceed this.

If bone is weak, we recommend higher-tier options such as SOI or BA. CA is suitable for patients with good or slightly deficient bone quality. We’ll give a precise recommendation after a CT scan and consultation.

The overall success rate of Osstem Dental Implants has been reported at over 97%, and thanks to the calcium coating that enhances initial stability, CA can be expected to perform even better.
